One Shoot Several Shots

Quarry in Biasca: a shoot, a drama in several acts and a happy ending.

One Shoot, several shots

Do you want to know how our fancy product images are created? How such a shoot works – or doesn’t work? Well then, we’ll take you to Ticino, to a quarry high up near Biasca. This is where we shot the images for the spring/summer 2023 collection.

It all starts with a long, very, very long journey to Mendrisio in November 22. Here we, photographer Ruedi, designer Coni and marketing and sales manager Caro, visit a quarry that looked very promising in the pictures. Unfortunately, only in the pictures. We don’t have a plan B. Ooops. So we do what is appropriate in a situation like this: we ask Google for help. And Google knows where another quarry is nearby. All right, we continue our journey to Biasca.

Once there, Caro simply walks into the office – because she knows marketing – and explains to the nice woman at reception what’s going on. She tries, but is barely understood. Only the word ‘photo shoot’ sticks. Both the woman and the boss himself agree. Cool. Caro’s Skoda doesn’t think it’s so cool, but rather exhausting and far too steep, but makes it to the top with difficulty. And it’s worth it, because: it’s a match! So, off home to plan the shoot.

Photographer Ruedi takes his job very seriously and, on his way back from his holiday in Ticino (in winter in Ticino, really?), drives past the quarry again and gets to work with his family, shovel and rake – until the quarry shines like a dream. So everything is ready, except Caro, who falls ill two days before the planned shoot. Lea, another designer, steps in. Wrapped up tightly, the three of them arrive at the location at just over 0 degrees and get started: load up, set up, shoot, dismantle and pack up again. Everything goes as it should and in the evening there’s pizza and red wine – finally a bit of that Ticino feeling. The next day, much too early, the journey continues. The car isn’t quite awake yet either and doesn’t want to push itself up the slope. Ruedi bridges the gap with his old Subaru and breathes new life into the Skoda. Once the starting difficulties have been overcome, everything goes well.

In the end, everyone is tired and frozen, but satisfied. And hey, it was definitely worth it, we think. What do you think? Discover the pictures here.
