Sora napkin

CHF 25.00

The Sora napkin from the Aizome* Collection is made of 100% pure cotton and, as a four-ply muslin fabric, is extremely absorbent, yet soft and airy. The food culture of Japan served as inspiration for designer Claudia Caviezel for Sora, especially the many bowls that are served at the table with every meal. Each piece in the Aizome Collection brings authentic textile craftsmanship from Japan directly to your home.

Description

Swiss textile artist Claudia Caviezel designed the Aizome* Collection especially for lavie in Japan. Apart from the white colour variant, the cloths are dyed by hand with indigo at the renowned Watanabe dye works in Gifu Prefecture. The team grows indigo in its own fields, ferments the plants and produces the characteristic blue dye according to centuries-old tradition.

Claudia Caviezel (*1977), winner of many awards, including the Swiss Grand Prix Design, is constantly exploring new creative ways to bring colour to life. During a stay of several months in Japan, she learnt the art of indigo dyeing and developed the Aizome collection exclusively for lavie.

*Aizome is a Japanese term with a poetic double meaning: it stands for ‘indigo’ and at the same time for ‘coloured with love’. The name of the collection reflects the care and dedication that goes into every single cloth.
