GOTS:
One label
Global Organic Textile Standard is the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from certified organic raw materials
GOTS: one label, many advantages.
Do you want organic and sustainably sourced products? Of course you do. But do you quickly lose interest when fighting your way through the confusing jungle of labels? We understand. But hey, we’ve got good news – and we’d like to introduce you to GOTS: The Global Organic Textile Standard is the world’s leading manufacturing standard for textiles made from certified organic raw materials and one of the most important textile labels. The label defines high-level guidelines for the sustainable production of textiles along the entire production chain and creates standardised processing criteria for retailers and manufacturers. These include both environmental requirements and social criteria, such as fair pay for workers and the implementation of safe working conditions. The certification is recognised in all major trading markets.
Why do we even need a label like this? Nice of you to ask: Textile processing often results in the elimination of harmful substances, chemicals get into the air and water – and into the lungs of the workers. This can result in cancer or other serious illnesses. The destruction of the ecosystem and biodiversity are also among the consequences. GOTS consistently prohibits the use of such chemicals. It also requires that all colourants and additives are assessed according to strict criteria and approved before use. Independent testing institutes carry out regular inspections.

GOTS label creates transparency for consumers
In addition, GOTS provides the industry and retailers with a globally recognised label with which they can clearly position themselves. And the label creates transparency for consumers – which brings us back to you: You can shop with a clear conscience and use your time for more meaningful things than studying various labels. Good? Good!
